The Law Dogs are a Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (L.E.M.C.) that was founded in North Texas in mid-2000 by five friends.
We don't all ride Harley's and work in Law Enforcement, so we didn't all qualify for the established clubs in our area... simply, we didn't want to have to drop our buddies that didn't qualify.. but we do have a high regard for all the other established L.E.M.C. clubs and respect their organizations. With that in mind and the idea of bringing Public Safety and the community closer together, the Nation of Law Dogs was formed.
The Monroe Michigan Chapter of the Law Dogs was established in 2003 by five friends and members of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and is one of over 28 Chapters throughout the United States and the first Chapter established in Michigan.
"After my mother passed away I wanted to start a club for a bunch of friends to get together to ride, have fun and raise money for a local charity" stated Dwayne Dobbs, the Chapters first President. "I checked a lot of clubs and most of them required either law enforcement only or a must ride a Harley only. It turned out that the Law Dogs was and still is the one club that best fits our group of friends".
Since those beginning days in 2003 the Law Dogs have come to be known as one of the premier organizations in Monroe County. We continue to ride, have a great time and raise lots of money for Monroe County charities.
One of our prime charities is the Holiday Camp of Monroe.
Since 1954, Holiday Camp has provided
summer programming for Monroe County youth with disabilities. Each
summer has
brought together young people and unique enrichment activities —
swimming,
sports, arts and crafts, field trips, music, outdoor recreation, and
entertainment.
